It's been quite the whirlwind of crazy over here lately. We went to my beautiful friend, Shannon's wedding last weekend which was absolutely GORGEOUS! I will have to post pictures of the beautiful bride and groom and wedding soon! It was great to catch up with friends and great as always to see my family and do some hanging out in Nashville. In other news, I've been getting over a nasty sinus infection.... uck! which I think has decided to move on to its next poor victim. Sorry to whoever you may be!
This week, in between working, sleeping, eating, and trying to spend some time with my wonderful husband, I met up with a couple of wonderful friends of mine this week for a "Food Tour of Knoxville," which I HIGHLY suggest you do in your city of choice with some friends as it was SUPER FUN AND DELICIOUS. Food and friends are two of my favorite things after all! Our original plan (which can also be your plan) was to start out at Location A for appetizers, move on to Location B for entrees, and then to Location C for dessert, but because of the absolute deliciousness of Location A, we skipped entrees and went straight to dessert. So.... that said, you can do it however you want it but the idea is to share a couple of appetizers somewhere, a couple of entrees somewhere else, and a couple of desserts at yet another place. You get lots of tasty food as you try several selections at each restaurant and don't spend tons of money!
For our Food Tour, we started at Cairo Cafe the Mirage on Gay Street. SO GOOD SO GOOD SO GOOD!! I cannot even begin to express how tasty this middle eastern/ Egyptian food was. It was also really really reasonably priced. We had the Tahini dip and Feta dip with pita. They also had a huge menu that looked downright scrumptious including some hummus dip that I will definitely be going back to try. Beyond the tastiness, the atmosphere was awesome! It's actually a hooka bar which gives it a very authentic feel. It reminded me of my short visit to Tunisia when I studied abroad. We sat on the floor on pillows and the waitresses were dressed up in cool authentic clothes. I also hear that they have belly dancing nights which are supposed to be super fun and entertaining. They don't have a website or I would post it, but if you are in the area, totally check it out!
We skipped the entree like I said because we ate so much wonderful dip and moved on to dessert at the Melting Pot. Despite having had one in Nashville where I grew up, I had never been. It is a fondue restaurant so we went for dessert fondue. Our dip was chocolate with peanut butter and our food to-be-dipped included anything from strawberries to cheesecake to "cookies 'n' cream" marshmallows. Yeah I almost passed out from the goodness and I'm sure.... the sugar overload as well.
That said.... I encourage you to try out a "Food Tour" in your town or a town you visit. In addition to good food, it was fun to get out and walk around downtown a bit and site see. Hope you are having a great weekend!

i think a food tour is a great idea! I have a great hummus recipe if you want it, roasted red pepper, and I put in extra garlic. We have a Melting Pot in Chattanooga but I have not been yet. Thanks for the reviews.
